Master Reference Specifications:

UDR (Re)Master represents a digital version of an album that has the best dynamics and overall sound quality. This may be a digital source or an analog source like a vinyl pressing or a tape. Usually this is a master with a Dynamic Range of at least 12.

XDR (Re)Master represents a digital version of an album using the best source available, but has enhanced Dynamics. Various techniques are applied in the highest resolution possible to retrieve the Dynamics and Headroom that were lost due to the use of the commonly known 'Loudness Wars' techniques. The target sweetspot is a Dynamic Range of at least 12 but if the end results are not "better" sounding or have distortion it will not be used.

FDR (Re)Master represents a digital version of an album that has no true great sounding master (in the public domain) and was extensively "tinkered with". These versions may not sound great at least they are more pleasant to listen to than the versions found in the stores.

About Eddy_litE™

My photo
Eddy_litE™ @ Hipper Than Hell Records
Ever since I was a lil' kid I was intrigued with electronical devices.

When I was 8 years old I got this cool reel-to-reel deck from my dad with a mono recordplayer and soon I started to connect the stuff. This went wrong the first time around in which situation I figured out that it is not wise to connect a high output speaker connection to a line in connection. (Sorry dearest family for almost blowing up our home!)

I got my first computer in 1999 and started to digitalize my vinyl albums. And rest assured I got a lot more handy over the years, I even followed a course in Audio Engineering.

- A variety of apps and suites to work on the soundfiles, anything that does the job really. Rule of thumb, when I don't need to correct it I won't.
